Virat Kohli will play only for the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) IPL team and no other according to more than one of his statements on record.
The 2008 World Cup under-19 competition in which he captained India to victory earned the right-hander a price tag of $30000 by RCB at the IPL auctions.
During the 2008 IPL auction, Delhi Daredevils, now known as Capitals, passed up an opportunity to go after Kohli instead, they went for Pradeep Sangwan who was a left-arm seamer to strengthen their bowling attack, and bought Kohli.
Vijay Mallya’s tweet on RCB For Virat Kohli
When I bid for the RCB franchise and I bid for Virat, my inner instinct told me that I could not have made better choices. My inner instinct tells me that RCB have the best chance to go for the IPL Trophy. Onward and Upward. Best of luck.

Since then, RCB has not been able to win the IPL trophy since 2008 but they have gone to the finals in three occasions in 2009,2011 and 2016 throughout that period, Virat never went back on his word and he remained committed to the franchise.
Dr Vijay Mallya was one of the owners of RCB. RCB qualified for the playoffs after a stunning turnaround. Dr. Mallya wished all the best as his team set for the playoffs and also Virat Kohli.
