On Monday, Amul, a major player in the dairy industry, requested that a woman customer return an ice cream tub in which she claimed to have found a centipede, assuring her of an extensive inquiry into the case.
The Noida incident was brought to light by a lady in Noida who made an order for Amul ice cream through the instant delivery app and found a centipede inside.
Reports say that the lady named Deepa Devi posted a photograph on social media on June 15 depicting the insect inside the tub and asked food safety regulators to intervene.

“This incident has deeply inconvenienced her and we sincerely apologize for that,” said Amul in its statement.
The company also confirmed it had contacted Devi seeking for her ice cream tubs for investigation purposes.

“Without retrieval of this customer’s complaint pack it will be quite difficult to investigate the matter hence comment specifically on the issues entailing pack and supply chain integrity as well,” said Amul.
Amul assures customers of the “premium quality” of its ice cream and says that its plants are automated and have strict quality checks. The company also invited Devi to visit one of the plants to see how it works.

According to officials, food safety officials in Noida had started investigations into it and they took samples of Amul ice cream from the instant delivery company’s shop at which Devi bought the container.
Once Amul receives the ice cream tub from Devi, it will fully scrutinize this matter and let all its patrons know about it.
