Delhi Weather and its environs were subjected to light rains on Wednesday amidst the hottest day ever witnessed at 52.3°C, with a forecast of thunderstorms from the weatherman.

Many areas in the city were hit by light rain yesterday giving residents a much-needed relief from drought conditions caused by extreme heat.
The national capital experienced a sudden change of weather after clouds engulfed it when the mercury reached an all-time high of 52.3 degrees Celsius today which was India’s highest ever.
Rain also fell over central Delhi, ITO, West & East Delhi as well as other places. Drizzles were observed elsewhere in Noida.
During the Next Two Hours In addition to this, during the next two hours over Delhi and its adjoining parts of NCR thunderstorms along with light-intensity rain and gusty winds are expected by the weather department.
“Light intensity rain/drizzle and winds with speed of 20-30 Km/h would occur over and adjoining areas of isolated places of Delhi and NCR, Kharkhoda, Jhajjar, Sohana, Palwal, Nuh, Aurangabad, Hodal (Haryana) Jattari, Khair (U.P.) during next 2 hours,” said IMD.

Mungeshpur weather station of Delhi recorded 52.3 °C on Wednesday according to IMD, this being the highest ever level in India.
IMD regional head Kuldeep Srivastava said that this is due to the hot winds from Rajasthan which hit initially onto the outskirts of the city. “Some parts are more susceptible, especially Narela, Najafgarh, and Mungeshpur area where these hot winds come in full force at first,” he observed.
According to power discom officials, Delhi’s peak power demand also went up to an all-time high of 8,302 MW on Wednesday. This is the first time Delhi’s power demand has crossed the 8,300-MW mark. Power distribution companies had projected that this summer’s highest demand would be 8,200 MW.
“The acute shortage demands that we immediately impose a fine of Rs 2,000 for wastage,” said the Delhi Government.
Atishi- The Water Minister of Delhi blamed Haryana for its failure to release water from the Yamuna River into Delhi and as such any person using a hose pipe to wash cars will be fined as long as there is water overflowing from tanks otherwise domestic water use for construction or other commercial purposes will attract penalties.
