40 Indian lives were lost when a Fire at Kuwait building broke out in the early morning of Wednesday in a building that housed workers in Mangaf.
In Southern Kuwait a blaze swept through a building where migrant workers live, killing 40 Indians and injuring dozens more. NBTC, Kuwait’s largest construction firm constructed the building.
The newspapers said that it started in one of the rooms in the kitchen located at 6 story Mangaf city building at around 6 am local time. The Interior Ministry of Kuwait confirmed this incident by reporting that 49 people died as of Wednesday evening.

According to the Kuwait Times, Sheikh Fahad Al-Yousuf Al-Sabah –the nation’s interior minister- ordered his country’s police forces to arrest three individuals the proprietor of the structure in Mangaf where the fire took place last night its caretaker and president of a firm responsible for employees who were working there during criminal evidence personnel investigations into that scene have ended.
He said, “Today’s incident is due to the company and building owners’ greediness.”
“Workers lived there and so they were staying many,” cited a Reuters news agency quoting a senior police commander as saying on state television.

PM Modi expresses his feelings over the Kuwait Fire
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has said that he regrets the fire outbreak in Kuwait City and has asked for prayers for those affected by the incident.
“All the individuals who have lost their beloved ones are in my thoughts. It is my prayer that they will heal as soon as possible. The Indian Embassy in Kuwait is closely following up on the situation with the local authorities to provide necessary support,” PM Modi told reporters.

Additionally, Mr. Singh’s mandate involves coordinating efforts with local officials so that bodies of those who perished in this accident, can be taken home immediately.
Moreover, Kirti was also instructed to liaise with local law enforcement agencies regarding a timely repatriation procedure for dead bodies of people who were victims of this conflagration.
Almost 160 residents were present inside the house which was occupied primarily by employees from India including most of its occupants coming from Kerala, Tamil Nadu, and other northern states.
According to reports from local media outlets, the people killed were between 20 and 50 years old.
Families of the bereaved have received condolence messages from S Jaishankar, Minister for External Affairs. “Our deepest condolences to the families of all those who tragically died; we wish them a quick recovery.” He added: “About this matter, our embassy will do everything possible to help everybody involved here.”
