Wasim Jaffer, the ex-batsman of India, has said for Axar Patel’s inclusion in the team for India vs Pakistan Match, with the match scheduled to be played at Nassau County International Stadium in New York on Sunday.
The wickets at this venue have been criticized before because, in all matches that have taken place, they have scored few runs.
He also pointed out that it would be more useful if we fielded an extra batter like Axar than opting for someone like Kuldeep who may find it difficult to take wickets here.
Wasim Jaffer on what combination can work for India vs Pakistan Match
“Initially we thought Jaiswal might open but they are not a good fit since his batting can help you in a game; why do you need Axar to perform? Even though you want Kuldeep to play as well.
But given how this pitch plays, with New York offering up a track like this one, you go for his Axar’s batting. Fast bowlers have done well on this pitch so far.
That is why Kuldeep might not be too much effective thereon as fast bowlers will do the job better than him. Maybe if the groundsmen keep rolling the pitches then there could be some improvement for spinners later on.
It has been tough going for teams here where no side has managed to get past 100 runs but I hope there’s a better strip of cricketing surface provided in the India – Pakistan match.”
“However, I think that pacers will take more wickets on this track,” said Jaffer while talking to Star Sports Network.

Axar Patel featured for India in a match against Ireland on Wednesday where he bowled just one over and picked up as many wickets.
Ireland were routed by India in their first game of the Group A at the venue three days later. After they bowled Ireland out for 96, India won with eight wickets to spare.
