In preparation for the T20 World Cup in the USA and the Caribbean, Virat Kohli spoke about his feelings before his debut for the Indian cricket team against Bangladesh in the 2011 World Cup.
The idea of Virat Kohli, India’s talismanic batsman being scared is almost brainless. Innumerable successful run chases, trademark belligerence, and an extreme burning desire to win at all costs have become equivalent to this batting phenomenon.
But everyone starts from somewhere and we have all been through it so did Kohli who opened up about his debut World Cup appearance among other things when he was just starting out alongside legends in the Indian squad.
Toward the buildup of the forthcoming T20 World Cup in the USA and Caribbean region, Kohli had a chat about how he felt before making his World Cup debut against Bangladesh in the 2011 World Cup.
Virat Kohli Recalls World Cup Debut For India
I played my first match against Bangladesh in Dhaka. This was the truth. When you arrive at a World Cup, there is another sense of anticipation and this was quite obvious—said Virat Kohli to Star Sports.
However, his moment in the sun on the big stage did not take long though. Making his debut with flamboyance, Virat Kohli stitched a massive 203-run partnership with Virender Sehwag en route to becoming the first and only Indian to score a century on his World Cup debut;
he scored an amazing century of 100* runs in just 83 balls leading India to an intimidating 370, which eventually ended up as an 87-run win for them.

“That for me was a time where I felt a little bit nervous heading into the game and especially the night before that I was pretty nervous but again it’s also a good sign because that means your body is getting ready for you to be put into situations where you are awake, you don’t take things lightly. The jitters helped me know what I wanted to do and not waste time,” concluded Virat Kohli.

About Virat Kohli
Virat Kohli himself has, however, for the past 13 years also become a legendary figure in his own right. A potential superstar batsman and run-making machine, he is presently the highest-ever run-scorer in T2O World Cup history with 1141 runs in 25 innings at an unthinkable average of 81.50.
Moreover, it will be crucial for the batter and indeed the whole country to keep hoping that Virat Kohli’s outstanding form prospers when India plays against Bangladesh on June 1 as a warm-up match for their preparation for the imminent T20 World Cup which is scheduled to take place in USA and West Indies.
