- DNA testing confirmed that they were from different people.
On Monday, Pune Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar announced the arrest of two doctors; one is the head of forensics at Sassoon Hospital in Pune where a teenager involved in a fatal Porsche accident was admitted while another is also from this health facility on suspicion of evidence tampering regarding blood samples during medical checks-ups conducted on him following an accident incident.
This development came after police found out that blood samples of a minor involved in an accident had been exchanged with those belonging to an individual who didn’t consume any alcoholic beverage. The original sample of the police youth was discarded in a dustbin according to them.
The minor had gone to Sassoon Hospital for a medical examination at 11 am on May 19 when the tragedy occurred. However, according to the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) report, there was no presence of alcohol in the first one giving rise to suspicion.
A 2nd blood test was taken in another hospital and the DNA tests established that the samples were obtained from two separate human beings, thus leading to investigators’ suspicion of possible evidence tampering by government hospital doctors, that is aimed at protecting the juvenile offender.

“Dr. Shrihari Halnor who took the solemn death sample of a minor was arrested last night. During grilling he exposed that Dr. Ajay Taware who is the head of Forensic Medicine had told him to alter the blood,” Said Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar during a press conference.
The commissioner added that after arresting these two doctors, they have now been charged with criminal conspiracy, forgery, and destruction of evidence in respect to the accident case.
“No alcohol was also found in his second blood sample,” Kumar said. “But our case is under section 304, culpable homicide not amounting to murder. The accused juvenile was in full knowledge that his act could endanger lives, so no alcohol traces in his blood sample does not affect our case anyway.”
